NEATHERLANDS (Dutch) Maker’s Marks |
|
|
Other pieces by this maker can be seen in the Christie’s Elizabeth Taylor
Auction in December 2011. Mr. Cohen was based in Amsterdam, and
was born in 1941 and died in 1993. According to Ginger Moro’s wonderful
book, "European Designer Jewelry" on page 233, Cohen found vintage
molded glass elements in Paris and combined them with modern silver,
onyx, marcasites, and chrysoprase to fashion his Deco inspired jewelry.
According to Cohen, he was also inspired by the Amsterdam School designs
from earlier in the 20th Century. |
|

FASHIONCRAFT
NY, NY 1942-1979, Robert Levy
There was a line of Fashioncraft jewelry made that looked similar to the
Hobe wire work pieces. Fashioncraft was made from about 1942-1979. The
name Fashioncraft was used first in the early 1940s and then, according
to Fred Rezazadeh’s book "Costume Jewelry", about 1960 the name
"Originals by Robert" began to be used. |

The SWAROVSKI Edelweiss mark is
one of their earliest marks. I have also seen the word "Edelweiss"
spelled out on an earring back, along with the "SAL" mark |
SWAROVSKI "SAL" mark
1977-1988
Said to have stood for "Swarovski American Limited"
|
SWAROVSKI swan logo with copyright symbol.
They have used the swan mark from 1988 to the present, and pieces from
the Swarovski Jeweler’s Collection came with this mark. |
"SAVVY" was another line made by Swarovski in the 1990s, but as far as I
recall, it was on the tags of this simpler less expensive line. The
SAVVY jewelry itself was marked with the swan logo. |

"DS" Daniel Swarovski Sterling mark including the swan logo and
"925". The
marks are "925" for sterling
and the initials "DS" for Daniel Swarovski, and this
particular mark is circa 2000. So far as I know, this mark was used
mainly on
jewelry pieces that included faceted crystal elements rather than
rhinestones only.
|
DANIEL SWAROVSKI in an oval mark. This has been seen on jewelry that has
large unusual prong-set rhinestones.
NOTE: We are currently researching these Daniel Swarovski marks and hope to
have more information on them soon.
