RICE-WEINER unusual Asian dragon brooch designed by Louis C. Mark in the 1940s

Price: $248.00
Description RICE-WEINER unusual Asian dragon brooch designed by Louis C Mark in the 1940s.  It is a nice large size at 4-1/4" by 2".  The gold plated frame holds a green enameled puffy disk with exotic Asian faces, characters and dragons on both the front and the back.  It has Chinese character letters on the back and a Chinese friend told me they say 群力 qun li which means something like "work together".

Some of these Asian inspired pieces were made for Blumenthal.  Other brooches in this Asian group include the well-known 1941 water carrier and the dragon encircling a cloisonne egg.  In Brunialti's "American Costume Jewelry, N-Z" on page 34 there is good information about this interesting company.  View  View  View  View  View  View
