| FEATURE: LILLY BARRACK Jewelry | LILLY BARRACK Jewelry is hand made, not cast, and incorporates lovely stones, many of which are rough cut and in their natural form. Made of sterling silver, it has a sleek contemporary look that collectors enjoy. Lilly herself is both well educated and well traveled, and her jewelry is made in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Her late sister, Gertrude Zachary, also made her own line of sterling jewelry. The rings are often designed so that there is a slit in the design, making it easier to size them. And the bracelets also have opening that allow for some change in size. That way a jewelry has less cutting to do in order to change the sizes a bit. The stones used are all so interesting, and each is unique.

All so far have been marked on the back, and they have as subjects scenes or lovely ladies. Usually set under a slightly domed glass, they give an illusion similar to a paperweight. Known for his colorful butterfly wing jewelry and souvenirs, his hand painted pieces have a certain appeal, as well. In trying to find more information about him, I read that he started making jewelry in 1875 and stopped in the later 1940s, but the pieces I have seen look more like the 1920-30s. I wish I knew more about this interesting maker who did these charming miniature paintings.
