MORNING GLORY owns and sells at THE ANTIQUE CONNECTION MALL on Historic Route 66 at 12815 Central Ave NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico, as well as on our web site, Facebook and Instagram. We are just off Interstate-40 at the foot of the beautiful Sandia Mountains. We have about 50 friendly and knowledgeable dealers in a 10,000 square foot clean and well-lit building. It is a really fun and interesting place to shop with a wide variety of antiques and collectibles. In addition, we offer maps to the other local shops, places to sit and relax a bit while shopping, and even sparkling clean bathrooms.

Some blow bubbles and slither, like fish, snakes, and serpents, and some are our best friends like dogs and cats. Their motif also makes really fun and whimsical jewelry to wear!

The SNAKE or serpent was the symbol of royalty and deity in early Egyptian society. Victorian jewelry often used an entwined snake to symbolize infinity and eternal love. Over the years the snake has also come to symbolize sexuality, rebirth and wisdom.

Dogs are thought to be the first domesticated animal, and they have been important to man ever since. They symbolize loyalty and steadfastness. Cats are an important member of many families and they symbolize many lives, mystery and beauty.

While serpent motif jewelry goes far back in history, it’s popularity really spread starting in the 1840s and peaked between then and the 1860s (Understanding Jewellery, Bennett, pages 88 & 104). The Victorians saw the bird as a symbol for many things, depending on what kind of bird it was and how it was depicted. Examples are Noah's dove from the Bible, bringer of great news, and also as a reincarnation of souls who have passed away; Robins who bring Spring each year; and Eagles symbolizing strength and freedom. It's interesting to see how many variations of them have been fashioned into jewelry.

Traveling on I-40 into Albuquerque, you will want to exit south at the Juan Tabo exit, almost at the foot of the Sandia Mountains, and then turn east on Central Avenue and watch for our monument sign on your left side.
