VICTORIAN antique turquoise, garnet and seed pearls ring in a 10k gold settingPersian turquoise is a beautiful blue color turquoise with no matrix at all and it was originally mined in Persia. In New Mexico, the Cerrillos mines just south of Santa Fe were also found to have a similar type of turquoise. The story is that this turquoise was used by the Tiffany company in the late 1800s and early 1900s, and it may have even been the source of the lovely aqua color in their advertising. The turquoise used in Victorian jewelry has an interesting history, and to read more about it, click HERE. The last photo here shows just some of the many designs that rings like this that were made, and they are fun to collect and wear together or one at a time!
