VICTORIAN cut steel chatelaine purse, circa 1850

DescriptionVICTORIAN antique cut steel beads and frame chatelaine purse in a lovely dark brown velvet with a cut steel frame, chain and tassel accented with hand faceted beads and a lovely red fabric lining. The total length from the top of the chatelaine hook is 7-1/2" and it is 3-1/4" wide. The body itself is 3-3/4" by 3-1/2", the size for a coin purse, and it would have hung from a belt or sash. This is circa 1850.
A friend collects only these smaller purses and they really display in a wonderful way. As you can see in the last photo, it has been hand mended on the back at some point in the past, but the front is a very good vintage condition, as the close-up shots show. ViewViewViewViewView Product #P37223
